*for the love of boston*

what can i say?  it’s been a very difficult week for boston & will continue to be for a long time.  my heart breaks for this city that i love so much.  aurora…tucson…newtown…us.  we’re now a part of the current landscape of national tragedies.  never thought it would happen.  however, to reiterate the sentiment, we’re boston, we’re strong, we’ll endure & we’ll heal.

*a pop of color*

the most overused terms in fashion blogging (in my opinion) are “obsessed, chic, stylish, pop of color & date night.”  with that being said, on this most rainy, windy & dreariest of days, here’s my outfit featuring “a pop of color.”  hypocrite much?  hahaha!

wearing: michael kors fishermen net sweater || wet seal bodycon black dress || target neon pink bandeau || JC thigh high boots

* of dark lace, hearts & sunbeams*

ironically, whenever spring rolls around here in new england & my other blogger pals are relishing being able to finally bring out their colorful clothing, i draw back somewhat.

as much as i love color myself, i also do like dressing for winter — furs, leather, wool coats, thigh high boots, etc.  it’s like i know with spring & more sunny days just around the corner, i have to wear my darker, more somber clothing with renewed earnest before they get banished to the back of the wardrobe. like the byrds sang…to everything, there is a season :)

wearing: express (really old) colored lace top || thrifted hearts print dress || DIY fan earrings || dsw black suede witchy buckle heels

*an afternoon at the aquarium*

wearing:  h&m mandarin collar blouse || target pink skirt || c|a|m dyed horsehair bracelet (via fab) || target watch || dv dolce vita cork sandals

i’m quite happy to be one to laze about the house, but maybe the whole “end of summer” doldrums was finally getting to me & i got into a slight panic about getting out & enjoying this final holiday weekend.  first, i relaxed for a whole afternoon whole 2 hours at the pool the other day.  then, enjoyed a backyard BBQ with MDH’s friends out in the boonies of massachusetts.  finally, spent a carefree afternoon wandering the new england aquarium with MDH & having dinner & desserts in the north end.

this peony floral top is one of my first purchases ever from H&M & what i usually put on the first warm day of the year to herald in the spring season.  i realized i didn’t do that this year, so instead wearing it to cap off the last of these summer days :(  ah well, the animals at the aquarium of course didn’t care what i was wearing but they were certainly colorful & season appropriate in their own way…hahaha!

*hot pink & a floral rain jacket*

most people complain when the sunny weather goes away for even a day.  i don’t mind so much.  i have a collection of light rain jackets & coats that if it weren’t for the dreary, haphazard springtime new england weather that we get here & there, these jackets would never see the light of day :)

accessories:  michael kors men’s rose gold watch || c|a|m dyed horsehair braided bracelet (via fab) || skeleton cameo pendant (via ebay)

especially this particular jacket from the rodarte x target collection that came out what feels like EONS ago now…hahaha!  i’m such a sucker for floral jackets though, i’ll most likely keep it around forever :)  in terms of these crazy high platforms, even i have to admit that my choice of shoewear for such a rainy day was odd, but still functional (surprisingly so).  with all the girlies out there in their hunter wellies, i tend to be the odd one out when i’d rather go the elevated route above the rain puddles.  works for me ^_^

wearing:  wet seal hot pink dress || rodarte for target floral print rain coat || madeline girl nude faux patent leather platforms (via dsw)

*shades of olive green & rosy pink*

the evolution of this outfit was pretty “schizophrenic”…much like the weather we were having that day!  i was really kind of all over the map O.O  first, i started off with a pair of boots i really wanted to wear due to the rain.  after figuring out this cardigan & dress combo to go with it, the boots didn’t look right with the outfit anymore…grrrr :/

at the last minute, the sun peeked out & the clouds seemed to have disappeared.  at the same time, these perfectly matchy-matchy sam edelman wedges called out to me from the back of the closet :)  glad i switched out as the rest of the day stayed sunny & warm & i would have been suffocating in my socks & boots.  oh well, boots…you’ll just have to wait for another rainy day ^_^

wearing:  target cardigan || swapped calvin klein belt || wet seal tie dye dress || skeleton cameo pendant (via ebay) || sam edelman espadrilles

*pastel pink & purple*

a while back, wendy brandes, famous, amazing jewelry designer & huffington post blogger, put the call out for what trend bloggers favored more for spring - neon or pastel?  so, oh hey, look who decidedly & definitively showed up in the *neon* column…hahaha! *what* a shock, huh?  i’ve clearly documented my love of neon again & again :)

this cute goodwill dress did let me cross over into the pastel point of view for a bit…but not *too* much.  still gotta throw in some bright & bold magenta plus strong shades of metallic grey, but this will do for today ^_^

wearing:  o’neill dress (via goodwill) || express lavender cardigan || c|a|m & DIY bracelets || skeleton cameo (via ebay) || aldo metallic pumps

*resplendent in rose gold*

wearing:  hugo buscati white suit blazer || LF store oriental print camisole || forever 21 neon pink bra top || asos pink pleated wide leg pants

in attending the tiffany & co blogger event, i decided to go all out with the whole rose gold theme & put on practically every rose gold accessory i own…hahaha!  why not right?  my philosophy is come high or stay home.  when the director & host of tiffany & co actually complimented me on my rose gold necklace, well then, i knew i made the right decision :)

accessories:  michael kors watch || asos ring band || rose gold/CZ floral cocktail ring || target oval necklace || charlotte russe metallic heels

i know…i know.  i hardly ever wear pants, especially for a night time event.  however, the look came together easily enough & just felt right, plus i was actually comfy with such a loose-fitting outfit for once :)  sorry, i couldn’t help accessorizing as well with the tiffany gift box (containing their commemorative anniversary style book) that we received from our gracious hosts.  that famous robin’s egg blue actually matched some of the colored swirls of my blouse :)  then again, when *doesn’t* a tiffany box compliment any outfit? maybe it’ll be my new clutch or computer case…bwahaha!

*hello kitty pink & gothic leather black*

oh hey, since i wrapped up the events of the goodwill blogger night, how about some outfit details as well?  hahaha!  this is what i wore.  i’m a big fan of nude & black…or cream & black…or beige & black…you get my drift.  although tonight, the whole *pink* & black thing all came together kind of weirdly unexpectedly o.O

i really wanted to wear my pink hello kitty tights & was surprised how well it matched the pink leather of my new litas (the cleata as in “clear lita” to be precise…although i think it’s a god awful name for them).  the combination of transparent (which i obviously love) with pink leather all wrapped in the usual jeffrey campbell hotness…i could never resist :)  so, all of that craziness, plus the hello kitty tattoo logos on my legs & the sharp lines of my necklace, i decided to keep the rest of the outfit all in black, just so i don’t look too cray cray.  i ended up really liking the look!  then again, hello kitty & jeffrey campbell were involved…how could i not ^_^

wearing:  black no-name sweater || viparo leather skirt || hello kitty x F21 tights || jeffrey campbell pink cleata || thrifted geometric necklace

*sandy pink & ocean blue*

wearing:  river island cape dress (via asos) || aldo silver chrome heels || white bead bracelet (baclaran market, manila) || ice.com rings

keeping it short & sweet as i’m still here in florida & having an awesome vaykay with my family!  also, continuing to recover from the wonderful time i had at my younger brother’s wedding.  unfortunately, it was rainy weather the day of the ceremony which was to take place on the beach, but the indoor event was nevertheless lovely & we were all still so very happy & had tons o’ fun :)

the resort they picked to have their reception at was gloriously ocean themed & i loved the decor that had everything from smooth stones to bubble fountains to sparkling shells…all in the muted blues of the ocean & sandy beiges of the beach.  glad i wore the appropriate dress to match the occasion ^_^
