this is what i wore to attend the neiman marcus spring trends presentation the other day.  i thought it was the perfect opportunity to finally bring out this navy with white piping blazer that i got from the neiman marcus x target holiday collaboration….when it was 70% off ^_^

not *quite* warmer weather yet but decided to dress nice & spring-like between snowstorms while i had the chance :)  plus, i learned during the NM talk that blue is a popular color for spring, so hey, don’t i feel all kinds of smart!

*navy sheer & gold for an indian wedding*

wearing: see by chloe sheer dress ($5 filene’s basement GOOB score!) || h&m gold dress (swapped) || n.y.l.a gold/mesh ankle booties (similar)

oh wow…looksie!  a regular ol’ outfit post.  FINALLY!  hahaha!  it’s been a crazy month, so i’m grateful for this very lazy, yet still busy & fun 4-day thanksgiving holiday weekend.  MDH & i didn’t go to my in-laws in PA as we typically do for thanksgiving as we had our friends’ wedding to attend here in boston.  our friends are indian & i wish i had ended up getting a traditional sari to wear, but i was also happy with the appropriately festive & sufficiently gilded outfit i ended up putting together :)

accessories:  aldo outlet earrings || asos ankle cuffs || express gold coins belt (from high school!) || ebay acrylic clutch || vintage mink stole

*dilly dallying in daisy print*

it’s been hard getting back into the swing of things from being gone for a week, but getting there.  acupuncture & kung fu life always take precedence, so blogging tends to fall by the wayside, but slowly back on track with the whole outfit photo taking again :) speaking of being away, the daisies in my garden literally EXPLODED with blooms!  hence, they get to take center stage front & proper while i try to cope with this heat preppy style…in a clean sharp white shirt & pleated skirt ^_^

wearing:  swapped BCBG white blouse || jason wu x target daisy print skirt || thrifted enamel necklace || lela rose x payless navy wedges

*stars & spots forever*

here’s another odd print mixing combination…stars & big ass polka dots.  haaaanh?  well, the fourth of july is not quite around the corner just yet, so we’ll save the stripes for then…hahaha!  wearing a few swap items in honor of yet another fun clothing swap that is happening tomorrow night.  you got your tickets, right?  you are going, aren’t you?

wearing:  swapped polka dot blouse || custom made star print skirt (from bangkok) || swapped silver bracelet || melissa rubber egg wedges

*neon, navy & neoprene*

putting some of my favorite trends together in a primary color kind of palette…although the neon kicks it up a notch!  i remember getting this neon yellow blouse several swaps ago (did you get your swap ticket yet?) & who knew then that neon would be such on the fashion forefront?  see, another reason why swaps are so great :)

wearing: a|x swapped blouse || asos neoprene skater skirt || isabel toledo x payless wedges || DIY friendship/chain bracelets || LF skull bracelet

*the yin & yang of fashion*

kind of a boring outfit i must admit.  blah dark colors, no billowing shapes or silhouette, no interesting details. well, except for the lace…thank goodness at least for flowery, delicate lace.

oh, & again, as i typically do…how do i marry that subtle & diaphanous lace?  with some monstrously strappy, sky high black leather wedges.  hahaha!  ah well…fits into my whole chinese medicine background/martial arts study quite well.  to have softness, you need the hard.  beauty & then the beast! the yin & the yang ^_^

wearing:  rodarte x target lace blouse || american apparel grey dress || asianicandy lotus necklace || jessica simpson gladiator wedges

*stars aligned*

i’ve really loved star print ever since dolce & gabbana featured it so flawlessly in their fall 2011 collection.  sooooo, when i saw this maxi skirt at my local target (in the girl’s section no less) of course i snatched it up.  and yes…it’s a maxi skirt…for a girl…that i’m wearing as a dress. *sigh*  i do love being short in the sense of how much more freedom i have with changing up the items in the wardrobe, but sometimes it’s also laughable XD

anywho, kinda channeling a 1950’s housewife betsy ross who sewed the flag into her dress then went all jane jetson, threw on futuristic heels & got tired of her bangs :)  ummm yeahhhh…something like that ^_^

wearing: harajuku mini star skirt || target cardigan || thrifted metallic belt || marni patent leather platforms (circa 2008/2009?) || spike the punch necklace

*hanging out at home*

this photo was taken back on a day when rain ruined any chances of outdoor photos. snapped it right quick & then realized i was all red, white & blue. i guess to make up for the 4th of july outfit that never happened :( this navy dress is actually quite a workhorse in my wardrobe. it has everything i want in a dress…poufy shoulder sleeves, pockets, just enough flare to the skirt to make it cute, roomy & comfortable plus navy’s such a basic color. it’s just plain easy, peasy, japanesey ^_^ my parents are in town, so outfit photos have slowed to a crawl, but i’ll get back into it when they leave at the end of this week. boo hoo :(
