*lace print & metallic*

lace print dress, metallic accessories, gold circle necklace, metallic sandals

this dress is super duper, mega, ultra old, but i’ve already had a pretty hectic monday, so for days like this, i’m grateful for easy & comfortable pieces that take no thought to throw on & accessorize :)  the epitome of oldie, but goodie :)

*happy new year from times square!*

can’t believe it’s a week into the new year & this is my first post!  you know how it is after a vacation though, so hard to get back into a routine :(  over the holidays, i spent one week in california, one night in philadelphia & then 2 days in new york!  i won’t bore you with the specific details, but my husband surprised me with doing times square for new year’s eve!  i’ve never done that before!  he even coordinated to have 2 friends & my brother celebrate the new year with us!  that was the biggest & best surprise EVER!

needless to say, since it was a surprise, i didn’t have any new year’s eve type clothing to wear :(  luckily, before leaving PA, quick stops at TJ maxx & kohl’s saved me!  i actually really love this dress i found.  mostly gold, but had dark silver threads running through, so in different lights, looked either white gold or gunmetal silver.  it was a great flowy length too, almost grecian in design.  all that extra fabric kept me warm & i definitely felt more comfortable than i would have in a shorter, clingier dress.  i was extra pleased as well with how my friend from portland, oregon & i were surreptitiously & unknowningly coordinated in our outfits…me in white/gold & her in black/sparkly silver!  it was the PERFECT start to 2013 ^_^

*last chance for mint*

mint was definitely the color du jour this past spring.  i took these photos last week on probably the last hot day of the year.  it’s funny too as this outfit is the exact reverse of an outfit i wore a few months ago aaaaand i got both jacket eyelet pieces on the same goodwill shopping trip!  au revoir mint! until next spring :)

*russian glitterati lady who lunches walk of shame*

what i wore to an event this past thursday.  more deets on that later.  don’t know what possessed me to wear metallic bronze & beads in the midst of a hot & steamy summer, but that will be revealed as well.  this outfit was put together so much out of the blue that i didn’t even have time to iron the wrinkles out of this skirt.  also, with my beachy wavy hair somewhat more frizzed out than usual, i looked liked a very opulent prim & proper socialite trying to make her way home the morning after…hence i present to you my outfit which i dubbed “russian glitterati lady who lunches walk of shame”…hahaha!

*baby shower afternoon tea*

wearing:  rodarte for target lace cardigan || liberty of london for target print navy ruffle dress || aldo outlet metallic/acrylic heel peeptoes

i got this dress seasons ago when the liberty of london collection for target came out (obviously), but was saving it for just such an occasion.  it’s very demure & the ruffle detail waterfalling down the front is really fun, but would get in the way of normal every day use.  it definitely has the vibe of a more dressy & classy day time kind of event, like going to church or to afternoon tea…oh & hey, coincidentally, tea time was the theme of my friend’s baby shower yesterday :)

accessories:  gold plumeria ring from hawaii || ross simons gold/diamond floral ring || thrifted bird earrings || church rummage sale necklace

since i was going to be around my friend & her family, i didn’t want to go all out crazy on the super high heels that i usually do.  i’ve done that before & it can garner unwanted attention when the focus should not be on me :(  so,  went low-heeled & a bit muted.  you know me & shoes though…can’t be *totally* boring.  so, pulled out these old metallic leather beauties with an acrylic heel…both very on trend :)  can you believe these shoes hurt my feet all day though?  i think i’m so used to walking on platforms that any shoe without such a padded foot bed really hurts the balls of my feet…no matter how low the heel!  so ironic!  hahaha!

anywho, the shower was a great time…seeing my friend so big with bebe already o.O  i hadn’t seen some of her friends & family since her wedding, so it was good to catch up with them.  not to mention noshing on little canapes of lobster salad on toast points, mini quiches, fruit salad, scones, jellies, petit fours & cupcakes…all the savory & sweets to have with fresh brewed tea.  very prim, very proper & yet still very stomach filling & fun!  then, all the ooh-ing & aah-ing over the baby gifts!  teenie weenie little booties…soft & cuddly onesies!  oh plus i learned something new…this whole sophie the giraffe thing!  i was the only girl in the whole room who didn’t know what the heck a sophie was!  just like fashion, didn’t realize that certain squeaky baby toys (from france *of course*) could be such coveted items!  hahaha!
