*ladylike*

kimchi blue dress, floral stripes dress, grey, teal, burgundy, patent leather, mary jane heels

i like a classic silhouette sometimes when i dress for the day…but always with a twist.  this ladylike look seems very proper, very 50s housewife with the full skirt dress & cardigan, don’cha think?  you know me though.  gotta “edge” it up just a little bit *wink*wink*

hence, the unconventional teal, grey, burgundy & hot pink color & pattern combination to this dress…the sweet, yet studded cardigan…the classic mary jane heels in patent leather burgundy…and finally, *of course* my very traditional cameo pendant…of a lady’s skull.  hahaha!

*a white harness for the holiday*

grey, chartreuse, neon yellow, white halter, BCBG halter, bow, white harness, white suspenders, white belt

i’ve been dying to wear this white harness ever since i got it at BCBG.  it’s a bit *much* to wear seeing clients on a regular every day basis, so had to wait for just such an occasion…like the thanksgiving holiday weekend away :)  it’s just funky enough to wear around family & friends without too much hassle…although a younger nephew already asked what the heck i was wearing ^_^  i’m kinda used to that sort of thing XD

grey, chartreuse, neon yellow, white halter, BCBG halter, bow, white harness, white suspenders, white belt

this thick woolen grey top with its ginormous neck bow, leggings & neoprene skirt are at least keeping me plenty warm here in pennsylvania sans heavy coat.  then again, all the fat layers i’ve gained already from 2 days of nothing but eating, eating & EATING is keeping me insulated just fine >_<  i’m thoroughly relishing my long weekend away though, don’t get me wrong.  wherever you’re spending your holidays, hope you’re enjoying as well!

wearing:  thrifted grey wool sweater || asos neon yellow skater skirt || BCBG white harness || simply vera leggings || rampage ankle booties (super old)

*well hello, holly hobbie*

grey, patchwork, print, country, floral, quilt

anyone remember holly hobbie?  every time i pull out this patchwork, ragamuffin-looking skirt, i think of holly hobbie, little house on the prairie, that kind of stuff that i loved as a kid.  plus, it’s the end of the week, i need something easy & this flowy dress is mad comfy & just what i need :)

*one shade of grey*

swapped, clothing swap, grey, gray, jumper, romper, dress, ruffles, target pink sandales

OMG…is it possible i could wear a dress of one solid color & no embellishments when all i wear are crazy prints???  hahaha, when it’s 100+ degrees outside & the dress is super short & whisper light, then yeah, kinda have to!  maybe that’s why i threw this long necklace with its colorful beads on at the last minute.  guess i feel incomplete without *some* kind of print…hahaha!

*hot doughnuts now*

wearing:  grey t-shirt (c/o joe’s jeans wrentham village) || F21 floral skirt || dior girly rain clear crossbody bag || juicy couture flip flops

i’m back from florida!!!  just spent a whole week with my family…getting in much needed niece quality time, running around in flip flops.like.all.day, not bothering with outfit photos, and *of course* doing a LOT of eating.

speaking of eating, i discovered the phenomenon of the krispy kreme hot & now doughnut.  you see, you don’t just walk into a KK & get an original glazed doughnut from the case.  oh no, no, no.  that’s been sitting there…all cold & stale.  if the hot & now sign is blazing red, that means donuts are ready to buy fresh from the wall of glaze & right off the line.  we waited 20 minutes to get our fresh hot dozen.  it really is worth the wait!  the things you learn when you’re on vacation…hahaha :)

*neon abstract floral print for a rainy day*

i wanted to wear something fun, flirty & BRIGHT to the marshalls spring #fabfound event the other night.  easily done with another PBxT dress in striking neon colors & abstract “kaleidoscope” type print.

however, the rains we recently had in boston also put a damper on an *almost* carefree evening.  don’t i always have a clothing item to the rescue though?  hahaha!  this newly found goodwill treasure of a rain jacket fit the bill quite nicely :)  added some equally fun & bright arm accessories & i was on my way.

whoops, forgot the kicks ^_^  since this was a marshalls event, i took off the shelf, probably still my *best* marshalls find EVAR!  stuart weitzman lavender cheetah print heels, but neutral enough to conform to any outfit…for $75.  oh yeah!

*what i wore for a walk in the woods*

this past weekend, the hubs & spent a really nice quick weekend getaway at a resort in the catskills mountain area of NY state.  i’ll be honest, i was leery at first.  sounded too much like glorified camping to me…log cabin rooms, nowhere else to eat for miles, NO CELL PHONE SERVICE!  *gasp*…can a city girl like me who is so “plugged” in all the time actually unwind & relax?

hahahaha…turns out i can!  well, only because the property had strong wifi signals everywhere, so i was never truly “unplugged” :) guess they’re used to out of town guests still wanting to be connected to the outside world….haha!  nevertheless, it was nice to spend time outside with the weather being that perfect blend of brilliantly sunny, yet comfortably cool.  even had the foresight to bring “appropriate” shoe wear for an impromptu hike in the woods & across a creek…while still holding onto my cell phone for dear life.  talk about city folk XD

*a pop of color*

the most overused terms in fashion blogging (in my opinion) are “obsessed, chic, stylish, pop of color & date night.”  with that being said, on this most rainy, windy & dreariest of days, here’s my outfit featuring “a pop of color.”  hypocrite much?  hahaha!

wearing: michael kors fishermen net sweater || wet seal bodycon black dress || target neon pink bandeau || JC thigh high boots

*all that glitters is not gold*

image

i was cleaning up/putting away clothes in my closet & this sweater happened to fall against this dress.  i can’t believe i never thought to combine them before with all the glittery gloriousness!  admittedly, it was a little much for treating clients in my office, but my regulars are used to (& dare i even say appreciate) my extravagant wear sometimes :)  i wanted to look nice for a friend’s birthday dinner that night & i didn’t have time to go home to change.

love these old ankle booties too with all the grommet, buckle, hook & eye  & suede detail.  ever notice they don’t make booties like this anymore?  they now all seem to have zippers up the inner side.  no likey :(

wearing: express silver glitter sweater || h&m bronze/silver glitter dress || swapped silver filigree bracelet || aldo outlet earrings & ankle boots

*mustard & grey in harvard square*

a few weeks ago, i had the TV on, not really watching it, but then a marathon of one of my favorite seasons of project runway started…season 3…with uli herzner.  one of the pieces of her final collection that caught my eye years ago when it originally aired reminded me again how much i loved that combination of colors & how glittery & sexy it was.  i immediately set about looking to buy items to simulate the look.  silly me!  i had essentially all the elements *already* in my closet.  my tones ended up being darker though…more a gunmetal (than glittery silver) grey & more mustard (than camel), but i liked the result.  i’ll still try to find the exact colors to recreate her outfit more accurately…cos i’m anal retentive like that :)

by the way, i was not impressed with the first season of project runway all stars, but since uli is on the second season, i’ll DEFINITELY be watching with more interest.  i just love her designs!
