*knit & neoprene & cosby show style*

know who my style icon was growing up?  other than alexis colby & those faaaabulous shoulder pads?  it was actually claire huxtable of the cosby show!  not so much her lawyer power suits or her casual sweaters, but every time she wore a big wrap or shawl, i loved it!  i especially flipped for the wrap with fur tails (apologies to people who don’t advocate wearing fur…i’m just giving style credit where it’s due) she wore to get her family painting back in a high end auction, one of my favorite episodes :)

add to that the fact that i grew up in hawaii, so warm weather clothing was a novelty to me.  boots, gloves, scarves, capes, ponchos, anything fur???  even closed toe shoes were nowhere in my vocabulary…hahaha!  maybe that’s why i more than compensate now…aaaaand every time i wear a big ass shawl or wrap…i think i’m channeling the fabulous claire huxtable :)

don’t ask me why i’m dressed in crimson & cream…harvard university colors.  i live close by, but that’s about the only correlation.  it’s friday…it’s the end of the week…i’m tired.  however, wearing this super thick, warm & comfortable sweater in this dreary icky weather, guess that makes me a bit more wicked smaht ^_^

first of all…i know, i know…i’m wearing pants!  on such a warm spring day like today, you’d think i’d be all over a skirt & bare legs.  to be honest, i’ll have to be on the bus & train later & back at home late tonight & not sure on how chilly it’ll be in the evening, so no bare legs for today.  plus, i wanted to wear this great new swapped (brand new with tags even!) mint green blouse & none of my skirts match  as beautifully as these cream pants :)

ironically, i had painted my “other” spike the punch necklace to go with this blouse to be able to wear today.  unfortunately, the mint greens didn’t really match up…the shirt was more seafoam & the necklace ended up more a pure mint green. fortunately for me, the dark teal of these gems still worked :) 

decided to go all out with the mint green by matching my nail polish also.  well, just one hand.  you know how much i like 2 colors for one manicure :)  also, since i cannot *not* have some kind of pattern mixing in my outfit…why not some snakeskin pumps ^_^  tomorrow’s gonna be a super warm mid-60’s kinda day! yippee!!!

i didn’t mean to look so surly in my photo today. or didn’t i??? my outfit’s inspiration is *clearly* influenced by the delicious thai iced tea i had with dinner last night. just thinking about that sweet, thirst quenching creaminess is making me very sad & pensive.

although…i *am* going down to chinatown in a little while to train. i’ll just leave a few minutes earlier so i can stop & get another one! brilliant!!! in the inimitable words of bill cosby…”i’m so smart, i’m smarter than me!”

can you tell i’m trying to squeeze in the wearing of all the trench coats/long jackets i have before the *warm* temperatures of spring really take hold? hahaha! as much as i really just want to throw on a dress & platform sandals and NO tights, i’m already mourning the storage of my favorite cooler weather items. my absolute most favorite is this cream leather jacket i’ve had for easily a decade! yup, it was one of my first won, most prized ebay scores. it had to have been custom made as there is no tag, no nothing. it’s the most supple, softest leather. i take such good care of it, there’s not a worn spot anywhere. everyone needs a basic leather jacket or coat, but the fact that it’s not your standard black leather, makes it even more special for me. yeah, it’s cool to be trinity & all, but i feel more awesome, like switch, when i wear it ^_^
