*20-year high school reunion*
i know…i know. some of you have waited with baited breath. some others of you were mildly curious. the rest of you could have cared less…hahaha! but here it is…*finally* what i wore to my 20th high school reunion! not to put too much thought into it, but i think we all have different methodologies in determining outfits for particular events. weddings are easy…the venue determines what you wear. if it’s a garden ceremony, you go more easy, breezy. semi-formal or black tie…more upscale. you get the point. a reunion though? that could go a million different ways. some go casual, some go dressy, some go all out. my philosophy most of the time is i don’t particularly go with the flow. if you go high, i go low. if you go black, i go bright. if you go strappy stiletto, i go chunky platform. if you go short cocktail dress, i go long satin ballgown. yup…that’s where i went ^_^
i had actually been looking forward to my high school reunion for a while now. *gasp* don’t we usually dread these things? i do have to admit with the advent of facebook, already having kept in touch with friends & not going in to the reunion cold, makes it *a lot* easier. i had everyone from friends i hang with all the time to people i didn’t even expect to see at all & was pleasantly surprised they made it! yes, we reminisced about old times. yes, i totally blanked on people’s names when they said hi to me. yes, i ate too much, drank too much & danced too much! good times…good times ^_^
anywho, enough with all that. i love my satin ballgown skirt that i got from goodwill for $8, so i knew that was coming out. plus i knew no one else was gonna wear something similar…hahaha! had my usual arm party going on. combining navy with the bright, almost neon, yellow top was an inspiration i got from my friend’s spring 2011 collection…which was the perfect color palette to top off with my huge cabochon neckplate from the philippines that i also wore to the montreal wedding. after my hubby took the above picture, he was giggling like a naughty boy. i just assumed it was because he got such a booby photo of me, but he was laughing that he wanted to ninja my name badge into the shot too…with my awful huge permed mega hairsprayed hair from way back when (c’mon…we all had that hairstyle, don’t deny it!). wasn’t it mean of the reunion committee to do that to us?
in all honesty, it was a great time seeing all of my friends who really after 20 years, still looked as fabulous & as young from 1991. some of these kids i knew even from 7th grade when i first moved to florida, so we’ve really come a loooooong way! here’s hoping we all still look as good at the 30th reunion o.O
