i’ll be honest…i was looking forward to seeing the royal wedding. i mean *c’mon*…we rarely get to see such pageantry, such pomp & circumstance & with all the awful things in the world, what’s a few hours of vicarious fantasy? i didn’t go cray cray though & get up at 4 a.m. please…that’s *exactly* what DVR was invented for!
at first glance, i was underwhelmed with now princess kate’s dress. i wanted to see more…more volume, more pouf, just more. however, from the moment she stepped into her car to the moment she stepped off the horse drawn carriage, i realized the dress suits her beautifully. it fits her style, her demeanor. she’s actually wearing the dress, it’s not wearing her.
plus, it reminded me of the custom made lace jacket i wore during my wedding reception over 5 years ago. how could i not adore her dress! i opted for a 3/4 sleeve that flared at the elbows (more spanish style), but i loved how her lace sleeves tapered tightly down to her wrist.
so, i hadn’t worn my lace jacket since the wedding, but i donned it today. why not? i already had the pink striped target dress on (stripes again, what a surprise!) & my lace jacket had pink ribbon woven in at the elbows, so matched nicely. i threw the flowered headband from a friend’s bachelorette party on as well to go along with the whole hat/fascinator fascination, although it *pales* in comparison to the princesses’ hats. ahhhh…what fun. i don’t think my wedding fever is gonna die down any time soon :) i’ve already warned my friends who are getting married this year that i’m wearing big ass hats to their weddings! hahaha!
